Sophie Agafonova / Layers

Sophie Agafonova is a textile artist and decorator from Bucha, Ukraine, now living in New York. Her work tells a deeply personal story of searching for peace and belonging. As a 3D artist, Sophie expands her creative practice by exploring new forms and dimensions of expression. At the heart of her work is a desire to create spaces that feel like home — welcoming, comforting, and grounded, no matter the circumstances.

Now based by the ocean, Sophie draws inspiration from the sea’s vast horizons, gentle waves, and soothing palette. These elements infuse her work with a quiet sense of freedom and calm, reflecting her ongoing journey toward healing and hope.

In Layers, Sophie uses soft layers of threads, creating a sense of depth and texture, as if they are gently stacked on top of one another. It reflects the idea of time, growth, and the interconnectedness of different aspects of life.
