The Story

Melanie Laub is one of the top emerging self-taught artists in Brooklyn, New York. She uses a palette knife and acrylic paint to create abstract pieces conveying an effortless, modern, and bohemian style. Melanie’s pieces are unique in the fine details. Within each work, a meaningful place, object, or song lyric that connects the audience to the art on a personal note, is subtly woven into the piece itself.

This piece feels like it could be included in an Ed Ruscha retrospective. The linear architecture, the contrasting colours, the feeling of being poolside. Art can sometimes feel like an adult pacifier — a soothing mechanism of sorts. We can almost hear the ASMR water ripples as the subject motions her arms through the pool, making this piece the perfect addition to a home needing a bit more tranquility, packaged in a colourful work of art.
